Once Upon A Time
Once upon a time I had to drive myself to the ER. It was a Monday in April, and I woke up with some pain, and after figuring it all out, I had a kidney stone. I didn't think it was that bad, so I went to school (stopping on the way to try to throw up) and then when I had to run to the bathroom to avoid throwing up in front of my students, and then knew it was time to go to the ER. I had a couple of people say "should you be driving yourself?" but I was able, and then I got there and then I had to call... my parents. There was no significant other to come get me or help me or take care of me. I was back at work the next day, but it didn't escape me that I am alone. I have a close knit crew of people that take good care of me and share in joys and trials, but I still don't have MY person.
